    • founded in 1961
    • about 900 students
    • 16 departments
    • about 280 lecturers, among them 65 full professors and 160 PhDs

Dean – Viktor Vladimirovich Davydov, Doctor of chemical sciences, professor.

At the faculty of Science, a classical combination of specialties characteristic of universities in Europe is practiced. The academic education provided at the faculty allows the graduates to climb the career ladder in various fields.

At present, the members of the faculty are not only working out innovative programs for physics and physical informatics, telecommunication systems, nanostructure optics, etc. but elaborating teaching materials for these disciplines.

At the faculty, allied subjects of physical, physicochemical, radio engineering and engineering profiles are taught with the extensive use of up-to-date laboratory equipment. Integration of intellectual, material and technical, technological and organizational resources makes it possible to carry out the scientific research of post-graduate students and scientists of PFUR at a modern level.

    Major directions of scientific research

Differential equations, mathematic computer simulation. Functional analysis and mathematical analysis. Functional spaces and representations of topologo-algebraic structures. Nonlinear analysis, extremal problems and optimal control theories. Development of the scientific basis for information-telecommunication systems and networks. Problems of artificial intelligence (AI). Controlled synthesis and studies of chemical compounds for creating novel materials and biologically active substances. Creation of highperformance and selective catalysts and catalyst systems. Membrane technologies. Studies of interactions of electromagnetic radiance with matter, particle physics, physics of metals and metal alloys aimed at creation of energy-saving technologies and ecologically clean power engineering. Optoelectronics, acoustoelectronics, optical communications. Applied information technologies in natural sciences.
