The University’s Dept. for Lifelong Learning has been offering a wide range of programs for many years. Our students are diverse: many are returning to study after a break either working or bringing up family; some enjoy studying in their retirement and others are looking to change or progress in their career, or to meet new friends and to study for personal interest. Whatever the reason, the Lifelong Learning department offers a wide range of certificates, and our team has years of experience providing help and support to ensure our students’ learning experience is as enjoyable as possible.

There is wide range of courses designed for your enjoyment or for progression, so we hope you will find something of interest.

MODERN RUSSIAN: LANGUAGE OF BUSINESS AND COLLOQUIAL

Peoples' Friendship University Summer School offers you an opportunity to study the Russian language in the heart of Russia in one of the leading Russian universities. 

Classes: Our experienced teachers apply the unique methods of teaching Russian. Classes are given in small groups.We use an interactive approach thatcombines learning Russian grammar with conversation practice, communicative games, using proverbs and idioms, etc., which makes the classes fun and useful.

Course duration – 144 academic hours.

Social program: Summer School of the Russian language allows you to combine a qualitative level of language with summer vacation, acquaintance with the Russian culture and history. Socialprogram includes sightseeing and historical tours around Moscow and old Russian towns nearby. Participation in summer school is an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of the language, immerse into the Russian-speaking environment and make new friends.

Location: Peoples' Friendship University. On the campus territory besides academic buildings and students’ residences you can find numerous cafes and coffee-houses, health and beauty facilities, cyber cafes and sports groundswith tennis courts and other infrastructures.

INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE - EAST AND WEST

Description: The programme is designed for students who would like to improve their knowledge in Regional Studies and experience life in a higher institution in Russia. Our flexible programme allows you to focus on the things that interest you most. The programme is based on Master’s Degree Programme Course 032000.68 «Regional Studies». The Programme graduates will be able to apply their knowledge in the spheres of marketing, economics, advertising and international public relations.

The programme aims to enable students to:

- get more advanced training in theory and practice of international relations between Russia, East and West;

- pursue more advanced studies in theory and practice of intercultural communication;

- develop skills in the culture of verbal communication.

The programme comprises 6 courses: INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE – EAST AND WEST, RUSSIAN ECONOMY, COMMERCIAL COMPANIES OF RUSSIA, RUSSIAN MARKET, FREE TRADE AGREEMENTS AND TREATIES OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION, FINANCIAL, BANK AND CONTRACT SYSTEMS.

INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION AND IMAGE OF THE COUNTRY

Description: 14-days intensive, which gives the students an opportunity to have a deep understanding of country brand construction, international and media relations. The country image formation of is a very complex and multi-faced process, which takes into account different social, political, cultural and communicational aspects. This course offers a broad overview of communicational technologies, marketing and branding tools using in country branding. It also helps student to understand Russian peculiarities break some stereotypes about the country.

NEW MEDIA AND E-JOURNALISM

Description: In this course students will explore and utilize techniques for integrating Social Media marketing as an integral component of marketing campaigns, serving as listening and outreach tools for building brand awareness and promoting business. Through an investigation of tools which include internet forums, message boards, blogs, wikis, podcasts, picture sharing, video sharing, and social networking, students will learn how social media can be leveraged as a powerful alternative to traditional interruptive advertising. You'll gain an overview of the current tools available, as well as the technologies that drive them

The New Media & E- Journalism introduces you to all facets of new media, encompassing design, production and interactivity. The course prepares you for a career in the current world of new media, and also equips you with skills necessary to adapt and thrive as this field evolves.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN RUSSIA FOR FOREIGN CITIZENS

Description: The business landscape in Russia has changed in the last decade and more foreign nationals are starting businesses in the country. Before the mid-2000s, there was a widespread belief that doing business in Russia was possible only for international corporations, as rumors about its enormous corruption and local ways kept potential entrepreneurs away. According to data provided by the Federal Tax Service of Russia (FTS), in 2014, less than  21 percent of small businesses registered by foreign citizens did not involve entrepreneurs from CIS countries, who were actively developing the trade market segment at that time. In large cities and regions today, one can more and more often find services offered by  individualentrepreneurs from almost every corner of the world. According to the FTS data for May 2013, about 25,000 foreigner nationals work in Russia on a Sole Proprietor License, with CIS citizens accounting for 60 percent of these licenses. All foreign individual entrepreneursdeclare  “Unlike in satiated Europe, Russia has enough space for almost any idea. The most important thing is that this market has really crazy dynamics, so the business is developing at a rapid pace.”

THE RUSSIAN NORTH: MENTALITY, HISTORY, CULTURE IN KOSTROMA

Description: The 2-week long Summer School “The Russian North”: Mentality, History, Culture” is aimed at giving the students, who take interest in the Russia more information about Russian language, history and culture by making them acquainted with the lingual, cultural, historical, social and political peculiarities of “The Russian North”. This region of Russia has its own social and historical tradition which differs from the main one, what gives the unique opportunity for interdisciplinary analysis, which helps better understand the contemporary  Russian reality.

 The Summer School comprises a number of relevant work-shops, which are not only provide theoretical  (within lectures and seminars), but also practical (“field” experience and master-classes) knowledge of “The Russian North”. All work-shops are thought by the experienced lecturers (professors, associated professors) with the background in linguistics, philology, history, sociology, cultural as well as political science. The lecturers mainly represent one of the leading Russian universities – Peoples` Friendship University of Russia (RUDN), which has a good reputation for the development of intercultural communications and methodology of teaching Russian as foreign language.    

 The Summer School is helpful not only for improving oral and writing skills in Russian (as foreign language) and strengthening the intercultural communication skills but also paves the way for the better understanding of the role of Russia as “a cultural bridge” between West and East through learning the linguistic, historical, cultural, social and political tradition which turned out to be very actual for the analysis and prognostication of the contemporary social, cultural and political processes.

The core aim of the Summer School is breaking the long-living stereotypes of Russia and setting up the image of Russia as the country with unique cultural and historical background.

LAWYER AT THE EUROPEAN COURT OF HUMAN RIGHTS

 

Description: Course covers thestudy of lawyer’s work peculiarities at every stage of the trial, as well as the analysis of ECHR legal positions on key articles of

the Convention 1950 and its Protocols.
Lectures are given by professors, human rights defenders and lawyers with successful experience in submitting applications to the ECHR.

The course is intended to present essential concepts of national and global culture, national and universal values, and major theories of intercultural communication. It also incorporates cross-cultural trainings of intercultural competence, tolerance and assertiveness which can help the students to foresee communicative barriers, understand the causes of intercultural conflicts and adapt to different cultural settings.

CONTEMPRORARY RUSSIAN ART

Description: Different aspects, a variety of expressions, distinct meanings  and hidden relationships. It has moved away from Soviet non-conformist artists of the 60's and the 70's to the present Russian Contemporary arts scene, from Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, Eric Bulatov to Dmitri Aleksandrovich Prigov and AES+F. It offers a fresh and particular view of today’s world.  The most acute and exciting  issues of Russian contemporary  art will examined and analyzed within the framework of this program. The vast variety of most significant artwork will shed light on the Russian art. The course will provide new sources of information, ideas and emotions to students, teachers and employees of educational, scientific and cultural institutions. It will move you closer to the unknown and specific Russian contemporary art.

Description: El presnte curso está orientado a los ex-becarios y egresados de la Universidad de Rusia de la Amistad de los Pueblos y de otras universidades de Rusia y la ex-URSS, qué, en la actualidad desempeñan actividades vinculadas con la educación superiór, la docencia y la investigación en todas las áreas del conocimiento. El objetivo principal es el de transmitiles la experiencia de modernización edcuativa experimentada en Rusia y en nuestra univesidad,  para futuras aplicaciones comparativas en sus países y centros de enseñanza. Por otra parte, el conocimiento de las nuevas políticas y principios de la enseñanza superiór en Rusia permitirá una mayor ampliación de la cooperación  de nuestra universidad con sus pares de América Latina, así como permitir una mayor inter-relación en las esferas de la docencia y la investigación.
