Library
The PFUR Scientific Library has been working since the establishment of the University. Its main purposes are:
- comprehensive informational support for educational and research activities;
- student and faculty training in the utilization of different informational sources and databases;
- competitive specialist training;
- support in Russian as a foreign language studies to foreign students;
- development and application of advanced information and library computer-managed technologies;
- modernization of the library resources administration
- support for the innovative educational programmes
The Library’s circulation departments and reading halls are situated in 5 University buildings. Since last year the University has a special Russian language faculty library, providing the methodological support for foreign freshmen.
In 2008 PFUR Scientific Library founded the Computer library and updates it regularly. It consists of:
- The computer catalogue
- The computer databases (bibliographical and full text)
- Internet references and links
- Computer PFUR collections:
- PFUR professor’s articles (more then 200 entries);
- PFUR publications;
- PFUR bulletin, 18 issues
In 1990 our library started to create its computer catalogue. Now there are 4 data bases in our Library; they encompass more then 280000 entries divided into
- Abstracts and dissertations database
- Article-by-article newspaper database
- Periodicals database (for 1986 – 2009)
Our book collection has more than 1,800,00 items and it grows every year. In 2009 the PFUR scientific Library subscribed to more than 415 publications, including 38 foreign ones. Access to more than 7 different computer databases and to a number of Russian and foreign magazines are available at any University computer.
The circulation department is totally automated. The library is equipped with 75 computers (33 – for the use of students) and with Wi-Fi Internet connection. Its Web site is: http://lib.rudn.ru.
The Scientific Digital Library
The PFUR Scientific Digital Library is supported by the “Science at PFUR” Web-site (http://www.rad.pfu.edu.ru/biblioteki). The first of its main item is the “Licensed resources” – links to the full-text resources (scientific publications and databases). The PFUR got access to that resource due to our awards of the two following government programmes:
1. «Development and designing for the high priority segments of Russian scientific and technological complex for 2008 – 2012 »
2. «Nano-industry infrastructure development in the Russian Federation for 2008 -2010»
The most popular internet publications are: IEEE Communications Society (US), ACS (American Chemical Society), AIP (American Institute of Physics), OUP (Oxford Univ. Press), and NPG (Nature Publishing Group). In the PFUR local network the access to those databases is free of charge.

The third one represents two lists of scientific magazines classified by the Institute of Scientific Information (USA) and encompassed in the Web of Science (WoS):
