Russian language at PFUR

The Russian language commission of the academic council of PFUR.
After the split of the department of Russian as a foreign language in 1974 – 1975 into 3 departments focused on the professional educational programs of the Russian language (science, agriculture and medicine, humanities) and the separation of the Department of Russian language of main faculties the necessity to coordinate the activity of these units became inevitable. At that time the administration of the University used several forms and mechanisms of coordination, including joint departments meetings, consultations with the professors and instructors of general disciplines. Ecaterina Ivanovna Motina, professor of the department of Russian as a foreign language had suggested the idea of the cooperation between specialists in Russian as a foreign language teaching and those ones who are in charge with the professional education.

Now there are 10 departments of Russian language at PFUR. The professional association of Russian as foreign language teachers got an official status and in 1997 was named the Russian language commission of the academic council of PFUR. Since 2003 Esina Z.I. Ph.D., professor has been supervising the Commission. Other members of the Commission: Dean of the retraining faculty for the teachers of Russian as a foreign language, Balyhina T.M.(professor, D.E.), Dean of the Faculty of Russian language and educational disciplines Yakushev V.V., Dean of the Philological faculty  Kovalenko A.T. and directors of testing centers – Cheban U.V., Kuzmina E.S., Elnikova S.I.

Main goal:
Coordination of Russian as a foreign language educational programmes in order to provide succession of the best University traditions and to optimize the quality of professional education

Research and organizational supervision:

1. annual seminar “Methodology of teaching of Russian language and of educational disciplines: problems of coordination and integration”
2. adjustment of educational materials to the level of language proficiency of students in cooperation with the departments of general disciplines
3. “Russian as a foreign language teaching on an elementary level with an application of educational software” seminar (on the base of the Laboratory of multi media technologies (head - Rudenko-Morgun O.I.)
4. Establishment of interdepartmental and interfaculty research groups and association
5. testing centers at PFUR, development of new test programs of different level of language proficiency
6. development of new educational technologies (multi-level complex programmes and elective courses with an application of computer and multi-media technologies)
7. development of the general “Russian as foreign language teaching at PFUR” program

Educational activity:

1. annual testing of foreign students in their proficiency in Russian
2. development of corrective programmes
3. creation of educational materials for self training (“Russian language – the first step” computer course by Rudenko-Morgun O.I. and Arkhangelskaya A.L.)
4. development of educational programmes for postgraduate students in the faculty of Russian language and educational disciplines.

Organizational activity:

• organization of seminars, conferences and simposiums with Russian and foreign Universities
• participation in the Congresses of The International Association of Teachers of the Russian Language and Literature (MAPRYAL)
• attendance at the conferences, dedicated to the Year of the Russian language in Montenegro, Germany, USA, France, Mongolia, Vietnam, China, Malaysia etc.
• holding Russian as a foreign language contests and Olympiads
• organization of rendering educational services in the departments of Russian as a foreign language.
