Academic Mobility


Education at RUDN UNIVERSITY means:


  • the best traditions of Russian and foreign training of highly qualified personnel in the international classical university;

RUDN University annually receives from foreign partner universities as part of the Academic Mobility Program about one thousands of students and faculty.

RUDN University also annually sends to foreign partner universities as part of the Academic Mobility Program more than 1000 students and faculty.

Out of 20000 students, living in Moscow campus, more than 7000 are international students, who represent more than 150 countries. International students have their national and regional associations. There are about 150 students’ associations at the RUDN UNIVERSITY.


International students could choose one of 20 Faculties or Institutes. The academic year is divided in 2 terms of 20 weeks. The first semester starts in September 1st and the second in February. Students have vacations of 2 weeks in January-February and of 10 weeksin July-August.

He/she could participate in training programs of the Mission Control Center. A unique Training Mission Control Center – Education and demonstration complex was established in 2015. It aims at: conducting scientific research aimed at using of space activities results in economy; promotion of knowledge about Russian achievements in the field of space activities for further commercialization; organization of the educational process, including lectures conducted by astronauts and noted scientists engaged in research in the field of space activities.


He/she could participate in Erasmus plus programs

Erasmus plus is the European Union program aimed at supporting cooperation in the fields of higher education, professional training, youth and sport. There are the following areas in the field of higher education:

Key Action 1: Learning Mobility of Individuals. Credit (short-term) mobility is the mobility of students, teachers, employees of universities, is carried out in the framework of bilateral agreements on mobility between universities from member-countries of the Programme and universities from Partner countries.

Key Action 2: Cooperation for innovation and good practice. Cooperation for capacity development in higher education is the continuation of the Tempus programme. Projects of this field are aimed at modernization, increasing of accessibility and the development of internationalization of higher education in the partner countries; forming a platform for the development and strengthening of cooperation between the EU and Partner countries; promotion convergence with the trends of the best examples of higher education; promotion of intercultural exchange.

Jean Monnet Activities – development of European studies. This programme is directed to enhance knowledge on the European integration process through teaching, research and debate on topics related to history, politics, economy and legislation of the European Union and EU relations with other regions of the world. The knowledge on other fields as natural and technical studies concerning European Union region is involved in the programme as well. The main objective of the programme is the introduction of a European dimension in the higher educational systems.


Best place to live in Moscow

The RUDN UNIVERSITY campus, the winner of Moscow Mayor’s Trophy “The most comfortable HEI territory”, is the absolutely unique place, there is none like that in Russia!The student’s Campus is situated in the South - West of Moscow city, and it is one of the best places for living and studying. The Hostels are situated in 5-storey and 16-storey buildings offering double and triple bedded self-contained rooms, costing from $ 980 to $ 3500 per year including water and electricity expenses, furniture, cooking and washing facilities.

The Campus nowadays consists of 13 blocks of student hostels housing over 7 000 RUDN UNIVERSITY students and graduate students. The RUDN UNIVERSITY Campus has everything for comfortable life: disposal laundries, dry-cleaning and other ateliers, barber shop and hairdressing saloons, stores and shops, post-office, banks. Special reading-rooms are provided for a better preparation for studies.


After lectures and studies and on days-off students can relax and spend time with friends at numerous cafes and coffee-houses.  There are plenty of them: African, Chinese, Arab, Indian, Georgian – they may be found in every hostel block, more than 20 in all.

The University is also keen about its students’ safety. Owing to the checkpoint system and round-the-clock video supervision across the campus area nothing may hinder students’ comfortable living.

The students have their students’ councils, which are in charge of discipline, social education and student’s support.

Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia takes care of students and teachers’ health. It provides medical service within the free health insurance to all the students, who get qualified medical assistance in the clinic of the RUDN UNIVERSITY Medical centre throughout the year. Medical centre employees are developing their skills at the faculty of Refresher training for health care professionals.

University's Medical Centre provides regular health control and care on the basis of medical insurance policy costs of $ 270 per year. Students' dispensary and policlinic operate within the campus.

The site of the University Campus is fenced. Electronic gate pass system is strictly maintained. Visitors allowed being identified. Local Police station and the Department of Internal Security control over public order and discipline. Contemporary Fire Prevention system is being applied in all premises of the University.

To make students’ life comfortable at the University, we offer free of charge halls for gymnastics, handball, basketball and football grounds. Tennis courts and pools are also open in the campus.

The RUDN UNIVERSITY physical and recreation complex occupies a vast territory of 6500 m2, where located: Stadium with grandstands capable of hosting 3000 people (grass football field; artificial turf running roads); football and baseball stadium, 2 covered artificial turf fields for mini-football, 15 tennis courts and 36 sport sections.

An International post-office, a telephone centre, a shopping centre, some restaurants offering dishes of national cuisine of different countries, an international students cultural centre, and a computer centre are situated within the campus.


Best place to study in Moscow

The common language here is the Russian language. International students could study Russian during the first year at the Faculty of Russian language and general disciplines (preparatory faculty). 

Graduates are certified, after taking appropriate exams, as interpreters in line with the chosen major program. For students in English programs there are summer language school and vocational courses during academic year.

Our Central Library has a literature with about 2,500.000 volumes in many foreign languages as well as specialized libraries at the faculties, and is of free access to students. At the beginning of the term, students receive books at faculty’s library and can freely visit the comfortable reading halls and internet classes whenever they need it.

Russian diplomatic missions in your country will issue Russian students’ entry visa on official invitation to every duly admitted student.

International air tickets to fly to Moscow are available from many air companies. Residence permit in Russia will be provided on students’ reporting and extended every year. The RUDN UNIVERSITY International Office will assist our newly admitted students in many countries.

All documents on education must be legalized by a national Ministry of Education and by the Consular section of the Russian Embassy in your country

The fees as specified in the Admission Letter are to be paid at the beginning of each academic year (September) to the account of the University.

An International bank service is available at the campus, where the Students can open private accounts and keep their money. Students are advised to have some $ 300-350 per month in order to meet the costs of the meals, transport, clothes, private needs and etc.

Tuition fee for studying at the Faculty of Russian language and general disciplines (preparatory/ foundation course) is:

the amount which is equal to academic year’s tuition fee  for chosen bachelor/master’s degree program for citizens of the CIS states;

4300 $ - for citizens of non CIS states.
