The prospects for the development of society and the quality of life of its members are largely determined by the state and trends of economic development. As Lawrence Peter rightly pointed out, economics is the art of satisfying limitless needs with limited resources. Scientific and technological progress, the development of information systems and technologies, on the one hand, modernize and complicate the economic sector of any state, and, on the other, significantly transform the requirements that graduate students must meet. The modern economy needs highly qualified specialists in the field of regional and industrial production, entrepreneurship, management, logistics, marketing, finance, who possess leading concepts about the economy and management of the national economy at macro and micro levels; have in-depth professional theoretical and applied knowledge about the basic principles, patterns and mechanisms of functioning of enterprises, industries and complexes of the economy.
In the course of their studies, graduate students conduct independent scientific research, present their scientific research, take part in Russian and international conferences, undergo internships at foreign partner universities, and conduct master classes. At the same time, they master the skills of teaching, conducting lectures and seminars.

The purpose of the specialization program:
- training of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel of the highest qualification for science, education and management, formation and development of their competencies in accordance with established standards;
- formation of skills of independent research and pedagogical activity;

- improving the knowledge of a foreign language, including for use in professional activities;

The curriculum, in addition to such basic disciplines as History and Philosophy of Science, Higher School Pedagogy, Foreign Language and Methodology of Scientific research, includes a specialization discipline – Regional and sectoral Economics.
In the course of postgraduate studies, it is assumed to master complex tools for solving research problems in the regional and sectoral economy; to master the skills of comprehension and critical analysis of problem situations based on existing research; to develop a strategy for the development of the socio-economic system at the regional and sectoral level, taking into account their interaction based on the principles of system management; to use forecasting methods and evaluation of the obtained forecast for making a management decision.
The object of research: economic systems of various scales, regional and sectoral levels, as well as the process of formation, functioning and development of entrepreneurial structures represented in various forms, types and spheres of economic activity.
The subject of research of this specialty is managerial relations arising in the process of formation, destruction and development (stabilization) and economic systems.
An important component of the specialty 5.2.3 – Regional and sectoral economics are theoretical and methodological principles, methods of managing these systems, as well as institutional and infrastructural aspects of the development of economic systems; various aspects of the study of subjects of management of economic systems (state, transnational, regional, corporate management structures, as well as managers as subjects of management).

Практика

During the training period, it is planned to conduct pedagogical practice aimed at preparing graduate students for teaching and providing a link between the knowledge gained during the development of the educational program and practical activities for the introduction of knowledge into the educational process. Pedagogical practice should ensure the expansion and consolidation of theoretical and practical knowledge obtained by graduate students in the learning process.
